Two VOSs married two SCHMID siblings. Two SCHMIEG siblings married two SCHMID siblings
Dutch immigrant, Peter Joannes VOS, and German immigrant Joseph SCHMID, Sr, were contemporaries; their farms were only abt 12 miles apart. Joannes (John) was older, his children were born in Netherlands and traveled over with him and their mother, Gurtrudis. Joseph was only 18 when he emigrated from Germany. He married Elisabeth and his children were born in Hennepin County.
Reinhard Peter VOS, the younger (by 19 years) brother of Anton VOS, Sr. married Magdalena "Lena" SCHMID, daughter of Joseph SCHMID, Sr.
Anton VOS's daughter Gertrude Anna VOS married Frank SCHMID who was a brother of Magdalena SCHMID Vos, and a son of Joseph SCHMID, Sr.
in 1853, John SCHMIEG from Germany, arrived in Saint Victoria Parrish, Carver Co around the same time as Joseph SCHMID, Sr. They became friends and were both farmers.
Two SCHMID children, (Maria) Mary SCHMID and Thomas SCHMID married two SCHMIEG children, Frank SCHMIEG and Mary M SCHMIEG
Famiies combining was a common occurance.

5 miles south of the park, in Victoria, MN, is the resting place of immigrants, Joseph & Elisabeth Schmid, as well as several of their children, Schmid and Schmieg. Their memorial stone has been restored and maintained by our cousin, Doug SCHMID, who is in the Joseph Schmid Jr Line.

Two SCHMID siblings married two VOS family members
Their fathers, Dutch immigrant, Peter Joannes VOS, Carver County, and German immigrant Joseph SCHMID Sr Hennepin & Carver Couunties, were contemporaries.
Magdalena "Lena" SCHMID married Reinhard Peter VOS.
Reinhard VOS was 19 years younger than his brother Anton VOS, Sr.
Frank SCHMID married Gertrude Anna VOS, daughter of Anton VOS, Sr.
Henry Joseph SCHMID, brother of Magdalena and Frank, married Christina KATZNER. Her father, John KATZNER was also a landholder in Stearns County.
A) our German Immigrants Joseph & Elisabeth SCHMID settled and farmed in Hennepin County, attended Church and are buried in Carver County.

Their 5th child, Magdalena "Lena" SCHMID married Dutch Immigrant Reinhard VOS 1883 in Victoria, Carver Co, MN, then relocated to Krain & Holdingford, Stearns County
Their 6th child, Frank SCHMID, moved to Stearns County, and in 1889, married Gertrude VOS, daughter of Anton VOS, Sr. in Holdingford, and they settled in Avon
Their 7th child, Henry SCHMID married German Immigrant Christina KATZNER 1890, in Albany, MN , settled in Sauk Centre. Henry also owned land near his father-in-law in Krain Township per 1896 Plat.
B) our Dutch Immigrants John & Gertrudis VOS, settled and farmed in Carver County

Two of their sons, Anton VOS, Sr and Reinhard VOS, and their daughter, Agnes VOS (Mrs John Muyres) all moved from Carver County up to Stearns County, and raised families there.

John Peter THOME and Barbara LENERTZ emmigrated from Prussia in 1882 & 1883
They Married in Avon, on 6 Nov 1883. All of their children wer born and raised in Avon.
In 1912, their Daughter, Catherine "Kate" THOME married Joseph Anton "Joe" SCHMID, the oldest son of Frank & Gertrude SCHMID of Avon. They married in St Benedict's Catholic Church

Randolph Holding was the first pioneer who settled in the area 1868.
The Artist is Zach Jones. A local carpenter volunteered construction work.
Members of the Holdingford Area Historical Society made it happen.
