How the VOS, VOSS, SCHMID, MUYRES families are related
A) our German Immigrants Joseph & Elisabeth SCHMID settled in Hennepin County
Joseph SCHMID and Elisabeth SCHWEIKERT from Württemberg, Germany
The three youngest of their seven children, Magdelena, Frank, and Henry, left Hennepin County and ultimately married and raised families in Stearns County.
Their 5th child, Magdalena "Lena" SCHMID married Dutch Immigrant Reinhard VOS 1883 in Victoria, MN, then relocated and settled in Stearns County
Their 6th child, Frank SCHMID, moved to Stearns County, and in 1889, married Gertrude VOS, daughter of Anton VOS, Sr. in Holdingford, and they settled in Avon
Their 7th child, Henry SCHMID married German Immigrant Christina KATZNER 1890, in Albany, MN , settled in Sauk Centre. Henry also owned land near his father-in-law in Krain Township per 1896 Plat.
Gertrude VOS is the niece of Reinhard VOS (her father Anton’s younger brother by 20 years)
Gertrude's Uncle Reinhard married Frank Schmid's sister, Magdalena
Hence, Gertrude VOS Schmid and Magdalena SCHMID Vos are sisters-in-law.
And they are sisters-in-law of Christina KATZNER Schmid, wife of their brother, Henry
B) our Dutch Immigrants John & Gertrud VOS, settled in Carver County
Peter Joannes VOS & Anna Gertrudis MOORS from Limburg, Holland
Two of their sons, Anton VOS, Sr and younger brother Reinhard VOS, and their daughter, Agnes VOS Muyres, all moved from Carver County up to Stearns County, married and raised families there. Reinhard was abt 18 years younger than Anton, Sr.
Reinhard VOS married Magdalena “Lena” SCHMID, sister of Frank SCHMID
Anton VOS, Sr’s daughter Gertrude VOS married Frank SCHMID of Avon.
Many children of Anton (Sr), Reinhard, Agnes (Muyres) and Frank (Schmid) remained in Stearns County and raised families.
Anton VOS children, John Peter, Gertrude, Theodore, Peter, Anton Jr. remained in Stearns
Frank SCHMID children, Edward, Ben, George, Frank and Roman remained in the Avon area.
VOS & SCHMID Cousins I met in 2017 when I drove through VOS & SCHMID country in Hennepin, Carver and Stearns Counties, visiting numerous Cousins, Farms, Cemeteries.
